Francos 2024: a large crowd for the Boulay sisters

Sisters Stéphanie and Mélanie Boulay brought together a large crowd early Sunday evening with their concert presented on the main stage of the Francos de Montréal.

“To think that earlier we were afraid that there would be no one there. That was our biggest fear,” said the youngest at the start of the presentation, probably moved to see in the audience her two little “toads” with their father, Guillaume Wagner, looking at her with their most beautiful smile.

The duo, who made their return to the festival after 9 years of absence, but also their first show in Montreal in 5 years, performed with great complicity a medley of their most loved songs by the public, including Us after us (The death of the stars), World map – in which Stéphanie had a small memory lapse which she overcame with a smile and the support of the crowd –, Of the strong shooters on your arm And Dead end (The weight of the confetti).

In addition to resuming Oxygen, by Diane Dufresne, the sisters also received a visit from singer-songwriter Rose Perron (Rau_Ze), who will be performing on June 22 on the Francos’ Spotify stage, for the performance of the piece Take off my laundry.

Arielle Soucy, one of Mélanie’s favorite artists, was invited to sing her piece Ottawa in a trio.

The Boulay sisters, who saw their crowd grow throughout their performance, returned later in the evening to the main stage, during the presentation of Pomme, which they welcomed into their home at one time. The three performed the play Sun sun, written by the adopted Quebecer and dealing with seasonal depression.

She, who was performing on the secondary stage, just before the highly anticipated late-night show given by Pomme on the main stage, managed to get several people gathered on the floor of the Loto-Québec stage to dance western dances. She also gave lessons in yodeling to her audience, who, despite their efforts and their amused air, did not manage to match the singer.
