Unknown to many Brussels residents, Vaux-Hall is hidden well behind the trees of the Royal Park. “He’s a little out of the way. You have to know it to find it,” smiles one of the managers of “Vaux-Hall-Summer”.

Since this Thursday, the majestic courtyard and its arcades vibrate to the sound of festivities of all kinds… And this for two and a half months.

The festival is organized by the City of Brussels. This Sunday, it was sport, choir and circus performances. With in particular the presence of the French contortionist, Jeanne Antore Cobetto, student in Brussels. “It’s classy to be here. I didn’t know,” smiles the 23-year-old artist shortly before his performance.

A performance in a… rainy climate. “Everything is outdoors,” recalls the organizer. “But when it rains, we manage as best we can. Particularly by staying under the arcades.”

The place, located just behind the Théâtre Royal du Parc, has undergone a vast renovation. Since 2017 and the end of the restoration, cultural activities have taken place again. “We want to bring this place to life”.

Activities are planned until August 25 from Thursday to Sunday: DJ sets, workshops for children, films, classical music, circus, dance… All activities are free. A tavern-style dining area is also open from 6 p.m. (2 p.m. on Sundays).

Complete program, to be found here.
