Delvis, a young artist from Revel, has been part of the musical landscape for several years now. He recently signed with the Universal Music label.

Since his first chords on his brother’s guitar when he was 7 years old, the local child, now a young father, takes a little look back and continues to move forward.

The first ranges

“I was given my first guitar at 11 years old,” says the man who comes from a musically-connected family background.

“I composed by ear. And now it’s too late to learn music theory,” he jokes.

A passionate musician, he was 16 when he entered the Django Reinhardt International Centennial Competition by chance.

“It was a friend who pushed me to go, I didn’t even know about the competition. I had just celebrated my birthday when I received the prize from the hands of the late Christian Escoudé, on May 8, 2010 in Toulouse,” he says.

The prize in question: a magnificent Rabuffetti guitar, a faithful copy of the legendary guitarist’s Selmer 607.

The Sinti musical tradition

There was a sort of passing of the baton at this moment, Delvis following the brands, just like his idol, of sinté music, a gypsy community of Italian origin from which they both come.

A synchronicity which had an echo, since from there, the young musician obtained a little notoriety, even internationally through the press and concerts (in Switzerland, Austria, and Belgium), but At the time, the young man shunned labels a little.

“I wanted to avoid being labeled a guitarist,” he explains.

Consecration on the networks

By imposing his style, Delvis found his loyal audience, locally and on the networks.

Since composition is close to his heart, he releases his own tracks like “Ma Morphine”, the video for which he shot at Revel in 2017.

He collaborates and writes with friends, such as with Christian Delagrange in 2019 (“Les Meilleurs”) and in 2021 (“De voyage en voyage”).

It’s the song “Coucou c’est moi”, which was self-produced in 2022 following the birth of his daughter Aydène, which is putting the spotlight back on thanks to its virality.

Once again, like a little helping hand from destiny.

A symbolic birthday

Today and 14 years after his award, celebrated by the release of the self-produced album “Django in the Future” (available for free on the internet), Delvis is signed by Universal Music for “Ma Promesse”, a swing title of which he is the author, the composer and the performer.

“I think it brings together those who like what I do. It’s modern, not too jazzy, and yet it also recalls my first love of the guitar,” he says.

A good-natured piece, celebrating complicity, which will be available on June 21 for the music festival. There’s no hazard.
