In concert at the Accor Arena, the smashing return of Olivia Rodrigo

In 2022, she returned to the Zénith de Paris as part of her “Sour Tour”. This June 14 and 15, Olivia Rodrigo takes on the Accor Arena in Bercy with a breathtaking punk, rock and pop “GUTS World Tour”. Paris Match attended the first of two Parisian dates for the young pop star who definitely has nothing to envy of the biggest.

8:15 p.m. Fifteen minutes before Olivia Rodrigo arrives on stage, the Accor Arena pit is packed. Excitement builds as the animated candles projected on the room’s large screens melt – a sign that the singer, just 21 years old, is arriving soon.

And it’s on the single from her second album “GUTS”, “bad idea right?”, that Olivia Rodrigo finally takes the stage. The room plays the game of “mute challenge” which consists of being completely silent for a few seconds during the song before concluding the first piece. Followed by the introspective “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl” and the hit “Vampire”, nominated for “Song of the Year” at the last Grammy Awards.

Back to the first hits

The tone calms down for the following two songs, from Olivia Rodrigo’s first album “Sour”. “traitor” opens the way to “drivers license”, the singer’s very first track to have enjoyed great success. Telling the story of a teenager abandoned by her true love when she wanted to celebrate obtaining her driving license with him, this single whose impact she had not imagined, made Olivia Rodrigo the star that she is today. Bercy does not hold back his nostalgia and screams every song from the bridge until he loses his voice: “Red lights, stop signs…”

Olivia Rodrigo doesn’t leave her piano to perform “teenage dream”, evoking her fear of becoming an adult; “They all say it gets better as you grow. What if it doesn’t?” The singer disappears during a first outfit change. End of the first act of the “GUTS World Tour”.

Return in a black sequined ensemble for “pretty isn’t pretty” where the singer reveals her insecurities, her discomfort with her physical qualities, before doing an emotional 360° to dance to “love is embarrassing”. 3 minutes where Bercy keeps jumping on the spot, the pit seems to explode. The melancholy “making the bed” slows the pace before Olivia Rodrigo flies above the pit, sitting on a metal moon and surrounded by bright stars. The whole world of his “GUTS” tour in one table.

A bubbling atmosphere

After a second change of outfit, the melancholy ends on “lacy”, where Olivia Rodrigo sings her jealousy, her envy and her admiration for a confident, beautiful, adult and responsible young woman. Everything that Olivia has not yet managed to make her own. Then, on “so american”, a love letter to her boyfriend the British actor Louis Partridge, Olivia Rodrigo makes the room dance: “He laughs at all my jokes, and he says I’m so American!”

She then returns to the adolescent universe of her very first album “Sour”, which won the Grammy for “Best Pop Album” in 2022, and performs “jealousy, jealousy”, “happier” and “favorite crime”. The pop star slips away to change for the third time while her fans are impatient at the thought of the stunning hits that are coming – they who know the setlist so well.

Dressed in a tight red jumpsuit and patterned tights, the pop punk princess who is very reminiscent of Avril Lavigne with her electric guitar and long hair returns to the stage with very “brutal” rock. She then continues with “obsessed”, during which she plays with the camera placed under the stage: Olivia Rodrigo lies down on the ground, sings about her obsession and her jealousy towards her darling’s ex-girlfriend and the Accor Arena follows suit 1000%.

1h40 of pop punk

Before the last chorus of “all-american bitch”, the singer invites her fans to scream as loud as possible while thinking about the thing that currently annoys them the most. The lights go out for a few seconds during which everyone screams at the top of their lungs with rage. The music picks up as if nothing had happened after this wild therapy session.

Last change of outfit. Olivia Rodrigo dons one of her famous graphic t-shirts. The global hit “good 4 u”, from the first album, begins and the room starts jumping from the first recognizable notes. If this song concluded its first tour two years ago, this time it leaves its place to the star of the show: “get him back!”

Confetti in the air, dancers around her and megaphone in hand, Olivia Rodrigo ignites Paris for the last three minutes before greeting her audience. She will meet them again this evening, same place, same time, for her second Parisian date.
