Music festival on June 21 in Quimper: “Let yourself be surprised”

Busy program for the Music Festival in Quimper! Friday June 21, fourteen stages will be spread across the city center to highlight dance and music. Like last year, the spirit of this 2024 edition is discovery, as Bernard Kalonn, culture assistant, recalls: “The goal of this festival is to be surprised, to wander through the city center, to fall on a musician on his balcony or on a street corner… If certain scenes are set up in partnership with associations, we want to leave spontaneity and allow everyone to express their talent. » The festivities will take place from 5 p.m. to midnight.

An eclectic program

This year, many musical genres will be highlighted. There will be jazz at Place Terre au Duc, while urban music will enliven the Saint-François halls and the Quai du Steïr. Lovers of traditional and Celtic music can meet at the terraces of the Conservatory and at the Ephémère. Place Saint-Corentin, six groups will take turns on stage. On the François-Mitterand esplanade, the Synchrone association has chosen to highlight the Quimper female electro scene, with the artist Sônge as headliner. Children will have the chance to have the Electro bus at their complete disposal. Finally, to highlight amateur music as much as possible and allow everyone to make music, seven autonomous spots will be installed in the city. Artists will be able to freely set up on these locations and play their instruments.

A Tahitian dance session

And it’s not just music: dance will also be in the spotlight of this 2024 edition! The Kemper Dañse association will occupy a stage in the Glacière parking lot. Its members will lead around ten initiations and demonstrations. And what better way to get in shape than an introduction to Tahitian dance? Be careful, the exercise is more physical than it looks. The Hip Hop New School will also be there and theater activities combined with polyphonic singing will also be offered by the L’Oiseau sur le Toit association.
