Princess Kate resumes her public engagements. This Saturday, November 9, the Princess of Wales took part in the Festival of Remembranceat the Royal Albert Hall in London, alongside her husband, Prince William. During this event, the royal family pays tribute to British servicemen who died during the First World War.
Kate appeared very smiley and dressed in a black dress – the occasion demands sobriety. She also wears a brooch in the shape of a poppy, an Anglo-Saxon symbol of remembrance of the 14-18 war. King Charles III, treated for cancer since February, was also present at the event, but without his wife Camilla.
Suffering from a “seasonal” lung infection, the queen was unable to attend the event“following advice from doctors to ensure (his) full recovery,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
The Queen is expected to return to public life “early next week”. The Queen has already had to cancel her participation in several events this week, including a reception on Thursday evening in honor of British Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
During his trip to South Africa on Thursday, Prince William opened up to the press about a “terrible” year. “This is probably the hardest year of my life“, he confided. “I am very proud of my wife, I am proud of my father, for having done what they did”.
