“Reels of a woman”: Lanloup makes his cinema from November 14 to 17

The success of the first edition last year gave them the taste for more. Anaïg Thomas, Jérôme Javelle and the Furikat association – ferreter, in Breton – return from November 14 to 17 with a new Bobines de femme. Always in Lanloup, always in the form of a film festival and always with this desire to attract and stir up curious minds. To show things that are difficult to capture outside traditional distribution channels, too. And to make discoveries and embrace all the diversity of independent and activist cinema.

This year, fifteen films are being shown. With a majority of documentaries, some fiction and certain productions which can borrow from both genres. In very different formats, sometimes. But with a theme serving as the common thread of the event: “Loss and transformation”.

It’s an opportunity to give a voice, too, to certain female directors. To encourage them to continue, to persevere in what they are doing. And to relate them to each other.

Give to understand

In line with last year, the projections will not be simple “canvases” to be consumed. The sessions are systematically accompanied. “Some films can be difficult to watch. Nothing is shocking but we have this desire not to let anyone leave with questions,” explains Anaïg Thomas. The directors – almost all of them will be there – or the guest presenters will serve as mediators, launch the debate and shed the necessary light on the questions that remain unanswered. Just to prolong the reflection.

An approach which is also at the center of the proposal. And which must benefit all participants. Exchange and personal enrichment are values that we feel are strong. “It’s an opportunity to also give a voice to certain female directors. To encourage them to continue, to persevere in what they are doing. And to put them in contact with each other,” assures Jérôme Javelle.

It’s all Lanloup who is behind it, we can feel it.

A whole village behind

“The festival also has a whole village behind it,” recalls Anaïg Thomas. Around fifty volunteers responded. “It’s all Lanloup who is behind it, we can feel it. There is perhaps a third of the population who are involved, directly or indirectly. And people from the surrounding communities.” Furikat received help, a lot. Material, technical, human… And is delighted to be able to also touch all generations. “It was important for us. This is why we offer sessions in the morning, too. Older people and those who work do not have the same availability and it is important to be able to reach everyone,” adds the co-organizer.
