Her lung infection forces her to rest. Queen Consort of the United Kingdom Camilla will be absent from the Remembrance celebrations taking place this weekend in the country, Buckingham Palace announced this Saturday, November 9.
This decision was taken on the recommendation of doctors, while Camilla, aged 77, had been suffering from a lung infection for several days. “While this is a source of great disappointment to the Queen, she will celebrate the event privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week,” the statement said. She will also not take part in any other events as part of her duties until she fully recovers, the palace added.
The highly anticipated Princess Kate
This announcement comes a few hours before the ceremonies, in which Princess of Wales Kate is due to participate with her husband, Prince William, and King Charles III. This is one of the rare public appearances of the one who is called to reign in the future since the end of her chemotherapy, announced in September.
After revealing that she was suffering from cancer in March, Kate Middleton put her royal activities on hold to devote herself to her treatment. She reappeared publicly for the first time after the end of her treatment on October 10 in Southport, the scene of a knife attack which sparked riots at the end of July in the United Kingdom.
King Charles III, aged 75, has also been treated for cancer since February. This made it a very difficult time for Prince William. “It’s been terrible. This has probably been the hardest year of my life. So trying to overcome everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,” he said, as quoted by the BBC.
