When Tranna Wintour asked her which encounter had the most impact on her, Varda surprised everyone by revealing the name of the person who intimidated her so much that she still gets chills thinking about it.

It is “a little piece of woman” measuring “about five feet”, who deeply impressed Varda during a meeting at the time of Sweet Salty: Sister Angèle.

She explained to the host that this intimidation was not negative, but rather due to the admiration she felt. At the time, Varda was going through a difficult time, going through a divorce, and “was really not doing well.” From their first meeting, Sister Angèle’s powerful energy completely overwhelmed her.

Taking her in her arms, Sister Angèle immediately told her “it’s going to be fine”, words which comforted the one we will soon see in Indefensible and touched her deeply. She even lost her means, she who “no longer knew what to say”.

A magnificent memory and a significant encounter for Varda Étienne, which came at a crucial moment in her life.
