Being True by Bob Gass – Thought for the Day

Swave the scriptures

No temptation has come to you that was not human.
1 Corinthians 10:13

Sin is certainly a problem, but not wanting to talk about it is even worse. It is easy to bear witness to old mistakes when everything ended well. It’s like saying to your psychologist: I only want to talk about the problems that I solved. Don’t ask me to confess my current struggles. I am ashamed. I’m afraid of shocking you to the point of rejecting me.

But in this case, why go to a counselor if you don’t need advice? Don’t we go to the doctor to detail our physical problems? Don’t we go to the mechanic when the car breaks down? Shouldn’t we confide our difficulties to each other? If we want God or others to love us as we really are, we must work to become more real.

David was the best king of Israel, but he was polygamous and a bad father. He had coveted another man’s wife, slept with her and betrayed her husband, before cleverly having him killed and hiding his crime for a year. So he was greedy, an adulterer, a liar and a murderer. We tend to idealize David and take him as a model, but what would we have said in his time? Yet God says of David that he is a man after his own heart (1 Samuel 13:14).

Can we fight so intensely against sin while wanting to please God? Yes. The Bible states: Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.“(James 5:16)

Elisten to the voice of God

Do you have a heavy conscience because of things you regret having done? Take the time to listen to what God wants to say to you about this.

Praying is simple. Talk to God like a close friend who loves you and can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer: “Heavenly Father, I present myself to you as I am. I don’t want to wait until I have resolved my problems to confess my faults to you. I ask you for forgiveness and the strength to always confess my faults, in the name of your Son Jesus. Amen.

Louer God

Today, the subject may not lead you to think of glorious things, but take a moment to thank the Lord for the unconditional love he has for you, the benevolent look that he has on you who does not keep not his anger forever.

HASact today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you? If there is an area in which you feel struggling, failing, and if, after talking to God about it, you feel led to share it with someone you trust, do it.

Hhonor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

Father, you know the depths of my heart better than anyone and you allow me to be me before you, so to you be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !”
