The public in the city of Béni Mellal took advantage of exceptional theater days, from October 27 to 29, 2024, where varied shows were presented before the viewing committee, as part of an artistic and cultural program supported by the Ministry of youth, culture and communication for the 2024 season.

The “Orchid” and “Abu Al-Haytham” troupes presented two plays enriching the city’s artistic scene and attracting spectators of all ages, at the cultural center in Beni Mellal with the support of the Beni Mellal regional council. Khenifra and the provincial council of Beni Mellal.
The play “Le Suicidé”, presented by the Orchidée troupe, was prepared and directed by Dr Ibrahim Al-Hanaï, benefiting from the residency program at Béni Mellal. This play received the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, and saw the participation of an elite of actors, including Hajar Charqi, Abdou El Filali, Sorih El Hamlili, Nabil El Boustawi, and Adel Idrissi. The play stood out for special artistic touches through the scenography created by Sabah Lzaar and the techniques supervised by Anas Fitih and Soufiane El Diani. Marouane Bniari (Nexo) composed the music, while Saad Husseini and Mohamed El Boustawi were responsible for the general management. Stage management was handled by Mansour Abdel Rahim, with artistic consultations from Abdel Jabbar Khomran.

On the other hand, the “Abu Al-Haytham” troupe presented a show for children entitled “The Four Musicians”, as part of the production and promotion support program organized by the supervisory ministry. This show was also prepared and directed by Dr Ibrahim Al-Hanaï, with the participation of Abdou El Filali, Nabil El Boustawi, Adel Idrissi and El Mostafa Ghanem. The set design was designed by Taha Kebiri, with help from Sabah Lzaar and Idris Souhail, while Sabah Lzaar designed the costumes. Hicham Hichimi and Jawad Filali worked on the masks and Abdeslam Ghayour supervised the music, with a choir composed of Aya Bahrawi, Jannat Barjdi and Salwa Rwadi. The lyrics of the songs were written by the poet Naima Fnou.

These shows generated great interaction among the public of Béni Mellal, bringing an atmosphere of entertainment and interest to the city and reinforcing the importance of theater as a cultural, recreational and educational medium, which touches all generations.
In a statement to ALM, actor Abdou El Filali stressed that the “Orchid” theater troupe is launching a theatrical residency project aimed at promoting cultural influence in the region, by offering young people unique training and education opportunities. supervision in the field of theater.

According to information provided by the troupe, he added, the project benefits more than 160 young people, who participate in interactive workshops covering various aspects of theater, ranging from acting techniques to directing and to dramatic writing. Thanks to this initiative, the Orchid troupe contributes to the training of a new generation of theatrical talents, likely to enrich the Moroccan cultural landscape.
And to conclude that the project also includes a series of conferences and signing sessions which aim to create spaces for dialogue around artistic and theatrical issues. These activities will continue until next March, offering participants the opportunity to interact with renowned artistic and intellectual figures and debate creative and cultural issues in Morocco.
