It is rare that Karim Benzema responds to an influencer on social media. However, he did it for a Franco-Moroccan Internet user who criticized him, as well as other players, for choosing to defend the colors of France.
A Franco-Moroccan influencer who runs the “Atlas Chronicles” page on Instagram, criticized in a video the attitude of a player of Senegalese origin, Benjamin Mendy. And did not spare certain French players of Algerian origin in the process, including Karim BenzemaSamir Nasri et Nabil Fekir.

The Internet user finds it abnormal that French left-back Benjamin Mendy appears at the start of his career with the Senegal jersey.
“It is not now that we must put on the jersey of Senegal, it is not now that we must make ourselves the Lion of Teranga. It's when you were at Monaco, at Marseille, at City. Today, the Senegalese no longer need you.”

For him, some African players only remember their origins when “things are bad”. “They haven’t calculated their country of origin their entire career.
Once they were spit on by the French team, by the French media, they started to say to themselves: oh yes, I have African origins,” he accuses.
The influencer anticipates the response which is “at the time, Senegal was not a big team”
Precisely, he explains, “if the players who say that had chosen Senegal, we could have had a very good Senegalese team”.
And it's the same for Algeria and players like Benzema, Nasri or Fekir who, “they too, did not want to choose the Algerian selection because it was not strong enough at the time”.
“But if all three had chosen Algeria, it would have been different. We would have an Algerian team that could have really hurt the French team,” assures the influencer.
Karim Benzema does not seem to have appreciated the remark. For once, the 2022 Ballon d'Or responded to the influencer in harsh terms. “Gotta dose it, buddy. You're opening it a little too much. Stay focused,” wrote the Franco-Algerian footballer on his account on the same social network.
Perhaps surprised to see the world star respond to him, the influencer went with another message, this time on X, accusing Benzema of loving “fitna”.
