Since June, the public has flocked to the Mercy-Argenteau hotel in large numbers. The noble 18th century buildinge century of the great Parisian boulevards, redeveloped by the architect and scenographer Constance Guisset, houses the School of Jewelry Arts (created twenty years ago on the initiative of Van Cleef & Arpels), its courses, its conferences, its exhibitions, its library open to all by appointment… And, for a few days, its specialized bookstore, which is located on Boulevard Montmartre. There are no less than 3,000 titles on offer, all having a link, directly or indirectly, with jewelry. It was named L’Escarboucle, from the Latin carbuncle “little ember” and designates until the 19th centurye century the fiery red stones. An original, erudite name, like the owner, Daniel Mitchell, defector from the Galignani bookstore in Paris, specialist in art books and « lover of beauty since forever ». Encounter.
