The 2024 Goncourt Prize awarded to Kamel Daoud for his novel “Houris”

Kamel Daoud won the 2024 Goncourt Prize for his book Houristhis Monday, November 4, 2024. The previous year, it was Jean-Baptiste Andrea who won this literary prize for Watch over her . In 2022, Brigitte Giraud was crowned for Live fast.

Four finalists including two favorites

After several rounds of voting, four novels remained in the running: Houris by Kamel Daoud (Gallimard), Archipelagos by Hélène Gaudy (L’Olivier), Jacaranda by Gaël Faye (Grasset) and Madelaine before dawn by Sandrine Collette (JC Lattès). Kamel Daoud and Gaël Faye were favorites.

The Goncourt Prize, the first edition of which dates back to 1903, allows you to win a check for ten euros. But winning this very prestigious award promises its winner a special status and sales of hundreds of thousands of copies.
