This Saturday, November 2, 2024, Gilbert Montagné was the guest of Isabelle Ithurburu, in the show 50 ‘inside, on TF1. The opportunity for the artist to make very intimate confessions.
Married since 1999, Gilbert Montagné seems very in love with his wife, Nikole. Father of two boys, the singer is the head of a large blended family, with his partner’s three children. Faced with Isabelle Ithurburu, the artist spoke about his blindness, and about the first thing he would like to see, if he had the chance:
“I still think that I would like to see the eyes of my wife, my grandchildren, all that”.
However, Gilbert Montagné made it clear that the eyes were not necessarily necessary to love:
“No, no, we need a clear mind and a healthy spirit, and a beating heart”.
The artist also recognized that it could be complicated to live with him on a daily basis, particularly because he did not do enough “stuff at home”. His wife also criticizes him for his lack of involvement in certain household tasks:
“But she’s right, I don’t do enough dishes. [Ce ne sont] not things that really interest me”.
However, the couple seems to be very happy, and more in love than ever!
Gilbert is an emblematic figure of the disco period
At 72, Gilbert Montagné continues to meet his audience in the four corners of France. However, this boundless energy sometimes leads him into delicate situations. Last summer, the artist had an impressive fall. While covering the hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, Gilbert Montagné came dangerously close to the edge of the stage, before falling. Fortunately, this incident had no consequences on the rest of his tour. He explained:
“The next day I had two hours of osteopathy, and my practitioner told me it was a miracle I hadn’t broken anything. I have a few bruises. But this is not […] Nothing…”.
An opportunity of which the singer is well aware, because despite his age, he does not seem ready to say goodbye to the stage. We hope he still has many good years ahead of him!
