You’ll have to get used to new faces. While Langon plastic arts teacher Marie-Christine Lathoumétie gave her last class on Friday June 28, it is now Atelier Amarillo which replaces her at the Carmes cultural center.
La Maison, a social and cultural café, located in Bieujac, was the first to host the collective’s workshops in 2023-2024. Established in Langon since September, Atelier Amarillo brings together five artists united around several artistic specialties. Julie Blaquié is a Franco-British designer who graduated from the University of Talence. At her side, the American painter Anna Ducos, the Franco-Belgian visual artist and painter Florence Schrobiltgen, the painter Alice Viry for the animated cinema workshop and finally Élodie Guais, who runs street Art courses.
This year, around 70 people registered to participate in the artistic workshops in Langon.

Workshops for all ages
“When I heard that Marie-Christine Lathoumétie was retiring, I wanted to move here to do workshops but I didn’t feel like doing it alone,” says Julie Blaquié, based in South Gironde. for two years and at the origin of the Atelier Amarillo association. She then decides to ask other local artists to join her.
This Wednesday, October 30, 11 children were invited to participate in a Halloween course. On the program: creation of a decor inspired by the world of Tim Burton. Results: hands full of paint, stained clothes but smiles on everyone’s lips and souvenirs to take home.

Art history at the heart of the workshops
Every week, the five artists divide their time to lead workshops for young and old: plastic arts, comics, introduction to animated cinema, Indian ink, printing techniques, artistic projects involving recycling but also drawing, painting or even watercolor.

After Halloween, a special Christmas workshop will be organized on December 14 and 15, 2024.
“For children, for example, I follow a year-round program. We started with ancient art, so we did Prehistory and Egypt. And then we will continue with color and the work of artists like Matisse for example,” says Anna Ducos, who had her own workshop in Bordeaux before moving to Bommes.
To participate, count on 336 euros for the annual membership for a child. Today, the artist collective attracts around 70 people who follow the workshops all year round. “For a start, it’s great,” says Anna Ducos. “We are especially well placed here at the cultural center,” adds Julie Blaquié. After Halloween, new pop-up workshops will be offered depending on the season. The next one will be December 14 and 15 with a Christmas theme.
