REV, the small popular university in Verniol, relocates to the Château de Fiches and joins forces with the ASDP (Association for the preservation and discovery of the heritage of the Château de Fiches). They invite Daniel Despothuis for a conference entitled “Around the requiem of Gabriel Fauré” on Wednesday November 6 at 8:30 p.m.
Daniel Despothuis, a renowned Appamean painter, is a connoisseur of classical and contemporary music. He is very attached to the defense of culture in his commune. He imagined that his town would see the birth of a museum dedicated to Gabriel Fauré, whose 100th anniversary of death is being celebrated this year. With this in mind and at the request of the association Au pays de Gabriel Fauré, he created an original work to say the least entitled “Requiem for a piano” but that is not the subject of this Wednesday’s conference.

He carried out significant documentation work to understand what was in a requiem, what it represented for everyone, and how the musicians translated it. With his neophyte’s outlook, he recognizes that he has a lot to learn from musicologists. “Fauré’s requiem denotes the general framework, far from those of Verdi, Mozart or Berlioz,” he says. The painter will show why and how he translated this musical work into his painting. A spiritual journey to the land of Gabriel Faure’s music with sounds but also images…
