In a poignant message, Clodine recounted the journey of JFwho began experiencing back pain, then hip pain, at age 48. Like many, he hesitated to consult, thinking that his pain was not alarming. It was only at the age of 50 that he was diagnosed with this advanced cancer, causing a shock to him and his loved ones.
She writes: “Movember guys ???? JF, my daughter’s dad and ex-husband, agreed to share his story with you… at 48 years old he starts to have pain in his back and later in his hips… he doesn’t go to consult because he’s hard to cook ! Finally, at the age of 50, he was told that he had stage 4 prostate cancer with metastases to his bones…» A strong and sincere message which aims to encourage men, young and old, to take their health seriously and to request prostate exams from the age of 50 or before, in case of doubt.
Clodine emphasizes that JF is followed at the CHUM, under the supervision of a specialist as part of a research protocol and she expresses all her admiration for his courage and resilience in the face of this ordeal: “Thank you JF for agreeing to share your story… you are strong, resilient and very inspiring ????????
