In Creuse, in Guéret: theater and history go hand in hand

Imagine Emile Zola and Georges Méliès united around the Dreyffus affair! 1894, the Dreyfus affair divides France.
A Captain is accused of espionage and found guilty.
In full literary success and against the advice of his publisher, Zola investigates the Dreyfus case. From his film studio, Méliès undertakes to denounce a state lie. Despite threats and supported by their wife, one writes the most famous article in history, the other makes the world’s first censored film.

Les Téméraires: November 14 at 8:30 p.m. at the Espace André Lejeune in Guéret – a show offered by La Guérétoise de spectacle.

Below, a meeting with the actors of Les Téméraires for france.tv

7 actors play 30 characters and bring laughter in the midst of hatred.

Here is an extract from the piece written by Julien Delpech:

EMILE ZOLA : « Here is an article to be published on the front page: “I follow the campaign that we are trying to carry out in France against the Jews with a stupor and a growing disgust which would take us back centuries. Finally, something which would lead to the worst abominations, a religious persecution which would bloody all the countries. (…) What I want is for the truth to come to light. That someone dares to bring me to the criminal court!“
GEORGES MELIES : We are going to make a ten minute film.
THE ASSISTANT: And what are you going to be able to talk about for ten minutes?
GEORGES MELIES: The Dreyfus affair. »
