There are three of them this Friday evening to reach the Rennes exhibition center. There are three of them to join in the rain the one which is beginning to establish itself as the unmissable rap event in Brittany: the Rave Park. They are three Bretons from Rennes and Lorient, three friends for two evenings that count. Because they go to see the people they listen to over and over again. As Gauzethe French prince of drill, a dark current of rap from Chicago.
In the end, only one remained
Nineteen artists spread over two evenings, Friday and Saturday, with a very prominent rap program and an electro scene on Saturday evening. They come for names, because names are good, but they are also ready to discover. Because alongside Gazo, named male artist of the year at the last Victoires de le musique (tied with Vianney), there is La Fève, a young French artist on the rise, Favé, 2024 revelation at the Flammes Awards (the Victoires urban music), and many others whose sounds are less known to the three girls but which they will really appreciate.
They are unanimous, “Gazo, ultimately it was disappointing. He wasn’t close to the public, he didn’t try to set the mood, to come and get us. The people weren’t too excited, it was not great While other artists whose sounds we didn’t know we liked” Niska, Favé, la Fève, they especially had a very good Saturday evening. “The artists really tried to chat with the public, they came to look for us, there was a great atmosphere, it was moving.” Niska, for example, seems to understand her audience and recreates her fans’ favorite sounds twice. Favé creates a surprise by really adding atmosphere to the hall. “It’s a shame that on the screens there was only decoration, we would have liked to see the artists on them. But the lights were cool.”
three quiet girls
If the three friends aged 15 to 17 have a great weekend, it’s also because Cartel BZH who organizes the festival did things well. The girls say they are pleasantly surprised. “The acoustics were really good. The indoor concert side gave you comfort if it rained, and you didn’t have the feeling of confinement.” The doors to the halls are open and allow you to feel comfortable despite the crowds. Security is top notch, and the girls feel good about their evenings. Outside of halls 9 for Rap and 4 for electro, a marquee has been set up in the center of a square surrounded by food trucks. A marquee with lots of tables and benches “with a warm lighting atmosphere, nice garlands”, and which allows the girls to sit down and take a breather. “It’s a good idea, honestly it was cool.” Unfortunately, although they appreciated the diversity and quality of the culinary offerings, they waited in line for an hour to eat. “There was no problem getting drinks but eating… it was a hassle, especially in the rain” There was clearly a lack of a few food trucks to support the complete success of the festival.
Coming for the rap scene, the three girls even have a great time in the DJ hall. “The atmosphere was great and frankly it was moving well. We didn’t know it but we liked it”
We’ll come back!
“Frankly the price is correct for the proposition. A little effort on the 2-day pass perhaps, that could help, but frankly if you go to a concert you can easily get it for 40 euros, so given the 2 stages and the artists, it’s super interesting” (Editor’s note: the 2-day pass is 99.9 euros). They will therefore return Kléa, Sixtine and Louna, if the poster is attractive again, because discovery has its limits for the youngest! This will be the challenge to take on for Cartel BZH and the 2025 edition, to continue to offer a quality poster. But the producer who has been setting up rap scenes for years is no stranger to the exercise. No doubt, we are impatiently awaiting the announcements! He was able to establish Rave Park as the unmissable back-to-school event, in only 3 editions, in a Breton landscape, and especially Rennes, clearly favorable to rap.
