It’s not just spring that has its way in 2024. The festival season is already shaping up to be like that of roller coaster, or even Russian roulette in certain cases. While the Vibiscum of Vevey canceled its third editionnothing seems to shake the winning trio in French-speaking Switzerland, made up in chronological order of Festi’neuch, from June 13 to 16, Montreux Jazz, from July 5 to 20, followed by the sacrosanct Paléo, from 23 to 28 July.
The latter may well present a poster without any real superstar, deplore certain grumpy minds upon the announcement of its programming, this has in no way tainted the enthusiasm of the public, who rushed to the ticket office. The great glutton of the Asse plain is doing well. Great good for him.
Nyon under the stars
But what about the other festivals at the start of the season? Still in Nyon, but on the water’s edge, the 34e Caribana will be held from June 5 to 8. Rather than a bouquet composed as a daily fireworks display, the self-proclaimed “smallest of the major Swiss festivals” chooses thematic evenings. A concept auguring the mass arrival of very diverse musical tribes who will follow one another from Wednesday to Saturday evening on the banks of Lake Geneva.

Pop fans, as well as those who follow Lausanne-based NNAVY, will be delighted on Thursday. As for those obsessed with rhyme, they will be full of rap on Friday. Finally, Saturday night fever obliges, the last day of the festival will be dedicated to electro, notably with Martin Solveig and another Swiss cocorico, the iconic Kadebostany.

But what interests us here is especially the Wednesday evening. In this case the one for which the ticket office is the most sluggish. Wouldn’t rock and metal be genres compatible with the cozy lakeside atmosphere? Of course, we learned a few days ago of the sudden replacement of headliner Bad Omens by Zeal & Ardor.
