An event documentary on Prime Video is about to be released. Titled I am: Celine Dion, it retraces the journey of the Canadian singer and will be available on June 25. But already, the first images have been revealed this Thursday, May 23.

“Before, I wasn’t ready to talk, but now I am.” In the short video that can be seen on the Prime Video Instagram account, Céline Dion looks back on her fight against illness. Diagnosed in the fall of 2022 with a rare neurological pathology, stiff person syndrome (SPR), the soon-to-be 56-year-old Quebec megastar confided last March that overcoming this autoimmune disease “was one of the most difficult experiences of (his) life”.

This documentary aims to give “a behind-the-scenes, raw and honest look at the superstar’s fight against a disease that changed his life.” At the end of January, Amazon Prime Video announced the upcoming release of this document in which she wants to “raise awareness” about her illness.

Celine Dion has not appeared on stage since 2020

Behind the camera, Irene Taylor has been directing the project since 2021. “With her sensitivity and thoughtful creativity, (she) will be able to show everyone a part of me they haven’t seen before…“, Céline Dion assured at the start of the year.

Celine Dion made a brief surprise appearance in early February at the Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, United States, to present the most prestigious award of the evening, album of the year, to Taylor Swift.

The Quebec star has not been on stage since a concert in Newark (United States) in March 2020. His Courage World Tour was then interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. And since 2021, it has suffered from SPR protests. Affecting approximately one in a million people, this syndrome causes severe pain and difficulty moving, preventing physically strenuous activities.
