New look for a new Witcher

Many things have not changed: between the medallion he wears around his neck, the studded leather jacket, the slightly wavy white wig, and the piercing yellow eyes, we clearly recognize Geralt of Rivia in the video below. However, it is now Liam Hemsworth (who looks more than ever like his brother Chris, Marvel’s version of Thor) who plays the character at the head of The Witcher following the departure of Henry Cavill.

The first glimpse of the actor posted online by Netflix only gives a glimpse of his character leading his horse through the mist, so we don’t yet know what Hemsworth will give in the heat of the moment. These images should, however, reassure those who feared too much change in the series with the replacement of Cavill: the man has changed, but not the Witcher.

  • Discover Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia:

“His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s exciting to finally be able to share an official look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia”said Lauren S. Hissrich, showrunner of The Witcherfrom Entertainment Weekly. “The cast and crew were struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment that Liam brought to the character from day one – unkempt beard, iconic scar, and all! We’re having so much fun filming Season 4 and are excited to welcome fans alongside us on this journey.”

“More than a year” to develop an appearance which is ultimately very close to that of Cavill in the first three seasons of the series, that seems a bit long to us… But we must not forget that the Last year the writers’ strike hit Hollywood for several months and delayed the production of many series. It was therefore necessary that the team of The Witcher takes care.

Season 4 will see Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allan) make their way through a Continent ravaged by war and its many demons in the hope of surviving and finding themselves.

It will also welcome new characters including the barber-surgeon Regis (Laurence Fishburne), the bounty hunter Leo Bonhart (Sharlto Copley), the advisor and spy Skellen (James Purefoy) and the dwarf Zoltan (Danny Woodburn).

As a reminder, Netflix recently announced that this series inspired by the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski would return for a fifth and final season. The first three can be seen or rewatched on the streaming platform.
