Initially scheduled last May, Maxime Le Forestier was present this Friday on the stage of the Balavoine hall in Arques as part of the Barcarolle season. Abandoning his guitar to concentrate on interpretation, it was accompanied by his son Arthur and Manu Calvin on guitar as well as Etienne Roumanet on double bass, that the 75-year-old artist brilliantly performed his tour. song dedicated to his mentor Georges Brassens, who died in 1981.

The first two sentences of The Storm resonate a cappella before being led by the Pompe, characteristic of the Brassens style, to start the evening. The voice is always wonderfully calm. Maxime le Forestier built his evening around five songs, never performed by Brassens, and 10 others – you had to choose carefully – from Brassens’ timeless repertoire.

The poetry and earthiness of the great Georges’ texts have lost none of their accuracy. Sublime accompaniment on Dying for ideas with starting arpeggios The water of the clear fountainMaxime gives us some anecdotes about the birth of some of these songs. A standing ovation will punctuate these two hours of show. Joël, from Arques, fan of Brassens, is delighted with this evening, both with the interpretation and with the musical arrangements faithful to the work of the artist from Sète.
