It starts with the creation of her own label to produce her own music, “a necessity”, she says in essence. What follows is the wish for his new opus entitled Caribbean to surround herself with a quintet, without having the idea of an arranger imposed on her (again a man!) and to be able to supervise the thirteen tracks of her album herself or with the people she chooses.
A deliberately joyful, dancing album, filled with love, optimism and mischief in the image of a young woman who knew how to plow her furrow without ever losing either her geographical identity or her strong and warm personality. A fiery meeting with Ana Carla Maza in The Ear is bold :
Ana Carla Maza is therefore a performer, composer, instrumentalist (her favorite instrument is the cello), arranger and producer of an album which does more than pay homage to the rhythms of her native Cuba: it is all of Latin and Brazilian rhythms that she embraces there. Caribbean also combines her taste for classical music that she has patiently studied in France since the age of 16, on the cello.

Ana all-out
We find her at Cabaret Sauvage, a venue nestled in the north of the Parisian capital where she will perform for the recording of a show. Fortunately, we will have all the time we need and during the interview, we realize how narrow the window of opportunity was: Ana Carla Maza never stops moving, between all-out promo and repeated concerts. Nothing is more normal after the release of a new album (the third, for her, recorded under her own label).

Except that we feel a frenzy and this desire to master everything that we spoke about above. But the artist is not necessarily a control freaka control freak: it’s her way of sticking as closely as possible to her desire and the way in which she wishes to distribute her music and her image.
But she knows how to surround herself, both in life – her mother, herself a musician, accompanies her daughter – and on stage: she chose the four musicians who follow her and among them, in the studio and sometimes on stage, a certain Arnaud Dolmen. The Guadeloupean drummer, like the other instrumentalists, knew how to enter the world of Ana Carla Maza and obviously embrace these Caribbean and Latin rhythms essential to the creation of this album.
