Musée de Poche: the small art gallery and bookstore with creative workshops for children

At the Musée de Poche, children can enjoy workshops and activities in this small space between gallery and bookstore where creativity is key, in the heart of the 11th arrondissement of .

THE museums dedicated to children are rare in the capital but in the heart of the 11th arrondissement of Paris, a small living space between library and art gallery takes the little ones on a journey of colors and textures. Suitable for all ages, up to 12 years oldthe Pocket Museum allows the youngest to start awaken artisticallythrough the books on sale, the exhibitions on the wall or the workshops offered every week.

Between a mini-museum and an art gallery, the Musée de Poche exhibits illustrations by living artistswhich change every six weeks, linked to works available in the bookstore, on themes suitable for young people: little creatures, flowers, daydreaming, the moon, the cuddly toy…

During our visit, the exhibition focused on Seek & Findtwo amusing little characters, who hide among other graphic elements, which must be found like a “Where is Charlie?“. A mechanism that appeals to young and old alike and offers beautiful moments of family bonding.

Here, everything is child heightand for once, we can touch the works! The opportunity for young people to discover shapes, colors, textures, sounds, by asking their parents questions. Many books, board games and creative activities are offered in the side store to continue this exploration at home. While entry to the gallery – bookstore is free, there is a fee for the workshops in the back room!

Cultural mediators thus offer activities combining the history of the arts and artistic practice, adapted to different ages, to progress at each person’s pace. After a short tour of the place, the children, in groups of 10 maximum, can, depending on the artist exhibited at the moment, learn how a book is made, reproduce elements of the work, benefit from the presence of a storyteller, paint, model, reveal their creativity, work on their imagination…

Except for toddlers, who can benefit from workshops with their parents, parents are invited to let older children discover themselves by doing everything they cannot do at home, such as drawing on the walls for example! What open their minds to art from a young age ! And since the workshops change every week, you can come back and have fun often, even during the holidays, when special days are planned.
