The news also attracted the attention of his rival and former colleague, Patrick Lagacé.

“I want to send positive thoughts to my former colleague Richard Martineau with whom I hosted Les Francs-tireurs”, launched the columnist at the microphone of 98.5 during his morning show, Bored in the morning.

In his mention, Mr. Lagacé does not go without mentioning the “colorful style” with which the host at QUB made the sad announcement in a column in the Journal de Montréal, Thursday morning.

Richard Martineau also published this column on his X account which, by the end of the evening, had more than 550 comments and nearly 400 likes.

Many wish him a speedy recovery, despite, sometimes, a difference of opinion with the columnist.

The former independence candidate, now contributor to the Perspective section at the Journal de Montréal, Shophika Vaithyanathasarma, also commented on the publication.

“Get well, Mr. Martineau. Please talk about it openly to raise awareness among the population to get tested and be careful. Take care of yourself,” she wrote this morning.

The collaborator at News and former MP and minister in the National Assembly of Quebec Christine St-Pierre, in turn, thanked the columnist for using his platform to open up about his illness.

“A powerful message in favor of early detection. Thank you for talking about it. You have all my affection,” she stressed.
