Maison du Monde 65 launches the MDM Compagnie Teen. A dance company for young people aged 11 to 14, which follows the success of the MDM Compagnie.
In the dance room of Maison du Monde 65, time seems to stand still. There, Jordan and Marine Plante, choreographers of the MDM Compagnie, Bruno de Paoli, actor, and Julie Roman, classical dancer, deliberate. Above, there are seven young dancers impatiently waiting to begin the last round of the audition for the MDM Compagnie Teen. A group improvisation test, which followed two free dance tests and personal and artistic questions.
A busy schedule, and impressive for such young dancers, but one for which the candidates prepared well in advance. For all of them, this is the first audition in which they participate. “The events are stressful but it turned into strength, and the judges give us advice! » breathes Léa, a young dancer. An opinion shared by his comrades, all in solidarity.
“We are here to join hands, progress, evolve” underlines Alexandre Plante, director of Maison du Monde. Downstairs, a few mothers come to stand to watch the end of the auditions, before knowing the result, “stressed like mothers!” »
Open the field of possibilities
The event is unique, it is the first time that the MDM Compagnie has opened a section for teenagers. “There was a demand, an energy because of the shows and the first company” explains Jordan Plante. A way, above all, for these young people from Lourdes and the surrounding area to imagine a future in the artistic world.
“It gives us a chance to consider dance as a more serious professional option than a hobby. Tomorrow, these young people will have a level that will be even higher, and will have more rapid progress. » Indeed, once a month, the seven dancers will have the chance to acquire more advanced technical bases thanks to classes in jazz, contemporary, classical… An artistic adventure too, they will participate in new paintings during the galas, and to ancillary projects. Some will also surely fill the ranks of the “big guys” MDM Company in a few years.
A young age which nevertheless hides a “maturity that they all have”, in the behavior and management of their emotions in the face of stress, as noted by the members of the jury, even if “they also have their little girl’s dreams that I had, but we see the personalities who come out, the generations with the music chosen” underlines Julie Roma for her part.
“We were looking for sincerity and each person’s world, knowing why they love dancing,” explains Jordan. An opinion shared by her sister Marine, “I was amazed that at 12 years old they could come up with words like “empathy, solidarity, mutual aid””
A great group cohesion which already announces great things for the very young MDM Compagnie Teen which hopes to make people talk about it.
