This is the first time that the Tivoli was open to the public since it closed its doors in the early 90s. As a reminder, this vestige of Clisson, built in 1905had been decided by Baroness Marguerite-Antoinette Lemot, granddaughter of François-Frédéric Lemot, to pursue Italian architecture that his sculptor grandfather, fascinated by the transalpine country, had developed.

During the last heritage daysthe craze has exceeded expectations of the Sauvons Le Tivoli association which has been fighting for ten years so that this monument, which has been transformed into a performance hall, theater then cinema, is not demolished and is reopened to the public. Indeed, burned down in 2008the building saw his days numbered. Finally, its defenders obtained from the city putting it out of water – out of air, and the installation of a roof.

More than 1,300 people came to discover what remained of the building. They were able to discover the history of the building on exhibition and a 9-minute big screen video on the building security work.

Some had to wait half an hour to see the balcony, the projection booth and the two dressing rooms still visible.

Former spectators present

Among the visitors there were of course former theater or cinema spectators, but also former musicians of music groups, former students who participated in Christmas trees or to end of year performances in this place. Members of the Friends of the Castle association who for a time stored Medieval costumes, actors of plays having played on the wooden stage, unfortunately disappeared under rubble and vegetation, were also present.

We received but also many young couples who came with family who did not know the Tivoli.

Many have discovered the grandeur of this scene (80 m²) and the basement “who can offer many possibilities of use provided that reconstruct the stage identically 1 meter above the room », hammered the association which wants continue the fight to reopen this site to culture. Moreover, 341 ballots were placed in the ballot box by citizens to collect their opinion on this use future. They will be analyzed by the association.

She released a new brochure on the Tivoli and the Italian architecture of 32 highly illustrated pages by photos of remarkable buildings of the Pays du Vignoble and on the history of the Tivoli from 1905 to now. A document winner of the participatory budget of departmental council which was sold on site (5 euros). Interested parties can make their request on the website.

The launch of the public subscription by the Heritage Foundation was also mentioned. She could be launched before the end of the year. This aims to complete the amount of work to be engaged for make the building usable and more presentable (stage, glass roof, replacement of the concrete blocks blocking the doors with joinery. More than 440,000 euros have already been hired by the city. For Save the Tivoli, this success over two days spoke volumes.
