Back pain does not necessarily indicate an underlying condition. However, it can be difficult to bear if it occurs frequently, especially during car journeys. Here is how to protect it in this context thanks to these simple reflexes to put in place before, during and after each trip.

Each of our movements is a source of tension for our spine, because many tendons and ligaments are inserted there. As the association Assurance Prévention reminds us, the back is used on average 1,500 times per day during different movements. They use several elements: vertebrae, intervertebral discs, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Injury to one or more of these elements can cause lower back pain. In the vast majority of cases and outside of any trauma, the latter is of muscular origin and short-lived: a few days to four weeks maximum. Without seriousness, it heals spontaneously and, as long as the pain remains bearable, maintaining an activity is recommended. In any case, it is not uncommon for back pain to occur during long car journeys. This type of pain is most often mechanical and due to poor posture, due to the body being too static: since maintaining a seated position for too long is not natural, it is normal for the back to react.
