LR Senator Michel Savin, rapporteur of the commission of inquiry opened in April by the Senate on the financialization of French football, is holding a press conference this Thursday, September 12, at 4:30 p.m. > Follow live here, on our social networks and on TNT channel 13.

In the morning, the elected official went to the headquarters of the Professional Football League (LFP) and its commercial subsidiary LFP Media, for a “document and on-site check”, by virtue of the specific powers of investigation granted to the Culture, Education, Communication and Sport Committee of the Upper House.

The parliamentarians are interested in the conditions of the agreement between the LFP and the Luxembourg investment fund CVC Capital Partners, which provides for the sale of 13.04% of the shares of the commercial company owned by the league in exchange for 1.5 billion euros. Furthermore, while French football is going through an unprecedented financial crisis since the Covid-19 pandemic, the acquisition of the broadcasting rights for Ligue 1 by the British DAZN and beIn Sports for a total amount of 500 million euros for the period 2024-2029, well below the amounts reached a few years ago, is also attracting strong criticism.
