Political messages during the Eurovision contest are normally prohibited, but the organization does not always manage to prevent them. On Tuesday, Swedish singer Eric Saade also sent a message during the first semi-final by performing with a Palestinian scarf on his wrist. Irish artist Bambie Thug also wanted to make a statement of support for victims of the war in the Gaza Strip, but was turned away.

Mustii had previously declared that he would not boycott the Eurovision Song Contest, but would prefer to “bring a message of hope and love”. That’s what he did on Thursday, with the word “peace” on his arm, which he only revealed later, when he bared his shoulders.

Previously, there was eager anticipation to see how the public would react to Israel’s entry into the competition. Singer Eden Golan was booed during the dress rehearsal, but that was not the case in the semi-final. The applause was even loud, even during the song. On X, however, there is talk of “fake applause”, but this information has not been officially confirmed.
