Saturday May 4, the Neuilly-l’Evêque multipurpose room vibrated to the sound of music from the 80s, bringing back to life the atmosphere of the discotheque club L’Eldorado, in Melay, which was a great evening in the area over the years. 80.
Who remembers the Eldorado nightclub/Melay club? Lots of people, that’s for sure!
Joël Thibaut, then owner of a café, had acquired a building located just opposite. It was an old cinema and he had the idea of creating a nightclub there. Thus was born El Dorado.
From 1980 to 1989, this nightclub was very successful. To this place, very popular with young people, came among others, the group Images (“Les Démons de midnight”), Félix Gray (“La gitane”), Steeve Allen, Patrick Hernandez (“Born to be alive”), and the hypnotist Dany Dan. The DJs followed one another: Joël, Philippe, François, and from 1986 to 1989, Doudou. In 1989, Joël Thibaut sold and the club only survived eleven months.
Many years passed, and Joël still dreamed of “his Eldorado”. It was his nephew Thierry, a resident of Neuilly-l’Evêque for 30 years, who wanted to pay tribute to him by bringing the nightclub back to life during an evening masterfully organized by l’Abreuvoir de Neuilly and the dynamic Catherine.
A fantastic idea that was able to bring people together beyond expectations. Many people, staff members or regulars of the Eldorado, were there. Didier Mourey, current mayor of Melay, and his municipal council were also part of the party, as was Eric Oudot, mayor of Neuilly-l’Evêque, very happy to welcome this evening in his village.
DJ Doudou and Thierry, on the decks, mixed all night and managed to maintain a crazy atmosphere. The mythical Eldorado has emerged from its long sleep and like the phoenix reborn from its ashes, it has taken flight again. So, see you next year in Neuilly, in May!
