Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire pays tribute to Anatole France

The writer Anatole lived in Saint-Cyr-sur- from 1914 until his death in 1924. Born April 16, 1844 in , Anatole François Thibault (known as Anatole France) is a committed French writer. He left Paris in 1914 to go to Touraine where he acquired a manor house, La Bcalerie, in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire. It is in this city that “Monsieur France” will marry his lady-in-waiting Emma Laprévote. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1921. Anatole France died in La Bcalerie on October 12, 1924, but he was buried in the cemetery of Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine). The City of Saint-Cyr has scheduled several meetings to pay tribute to him.

Saturday October 12. At 4 p.m., at the Salons Ronsard, conference on the theme “A hundred years later (1924-2024), the return of Anatole France? », hosted by Guillaume Métayer and Antoine Pin.

All weekend, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Salons Ronsard, exhibition “Remembering Anatole”: objects and documents from the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts of , private collections, the municipal archives of Saint -Cyr and Tours; at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., guided tours of the Bcalerie gardens by the Hommes et Patrimoine association.
