The writer Anatole France lived in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire from 1914 until his death in 1924. Born April 16, 1844 in Paris, Anatole François Thibault (known as Anatole France) is a committed French writer. He left Paris in 1914 to go to Touraine where he acquired a manor house, La Bcalerie, in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire. It is in this city that “Monsieur France” will marry his lady-in-waiting Emma Laprévote. He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1921. Anatole France died in La Bcalerie on October 12, 1924, but he was buried in the cemetery of Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine). The City of Saint-Cyr has scheduled several meetings to pay tribute to him.
