The dream continues for Tali, who will participate in the Eurovision final

She did it! This Tuesday evening, Tali, who represents Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, managed to secure a place in the final with her song “Fighter”.

It was at the end of an unbearable suspense – there was only one place left for 7 countries – that the two presenters of the show announced that Luxembourg would be one of the finalists for this 2024 edition. In the “Green Room”, this was of course an explosion of joy for Tali and her team!

It was a moment that Luxembourg had been waiting for 31 years. This Tuesday, May 7, the Grand Duchy once again appeared in the list of countries competing for the Eurovision Song Contest. A total of 37 countries are participating this year in this competition, which brought together more than 162 million viewers in front of their small screens in 2023.

Tali, selected last January to represent Luxembourg in Malmö, was the 15th and last candidate this Tuesday evening of this first semi-final to take the stage.

His song “Fighter”, sung in French and English, delivers the message of the importance of persevering and fighting in life to achieve your goals.

A resolutely optimistic message which convinced the public since the young woman is one of the ten artists who were selected to participate in the final of the competition on Saturday.

“Let’s hope things go better this time!”

Shortly before the closing of the votes, Petra Mede, one of the two presenters of the evening, stopped for a few moments with Tali and her team in the “Green Room”, reminding us that Luxembourg was making its comeback in the competition. “In 1993 you finished in 20th place and after that you didn’t appear again for 30 years. So let’s hope things go better this time, otherwise we’ll see each other again in 2055!”, the presenter said with a laugh. Tali also confided that her favorite song from Luxembourg in the competition was “Poupée de Cire, Poupée de Son”, sung in 1965 by France Gall.

Tali was able to count on the support of all of Luxembourg, who expected her to make a triumphant return to the competition. The young woman also had a supporter of choice in the person of Xavier Bettel. The Minister of Foreign Affairs indeed showed his support on social networks for the singer shortly before the start of the semi-final. He was quick to congratulate her upon the announcement of her participation in the final of the competition on Saturday.

On Thursday, during the second semi-final, ten other countries will win a ticket to the final of the competition. To these 20 qualified countries will be added six more automatically qualified: the five members of the Big Five (the largest financial contributors, including France and Germany) as well as Sweden, winner last year with the song Loreen tattoo.
