Supervised by the Chinese Yuhan Wei, a wood engraving workshop saw the participation of painters Malika Agueznay, Abdallah Hariri and Abderrahmane Rahoule, at the Marsam gallery in Casablanca on September 29, 2024.

To open a season of workshops and exhibitions which will continue until December 1, 2024, Marsam, publisher of prints, art screenprints, lithographs and engravings, organized, from September 23 to 27, a wood engraving workshop.

This workshop was led by the Chinese engraver Yuhan Wei. This form of expression holds a particular and important place in the contemporary art of his country. Carried out in partnership with Bassma Art Gallery and the painter-engraver Khalid El Bekay, the workshop invited the painters Malika Agueznay, Abdallah Hariri and Abderrahmane Rahoule. Promoting creative synergy, it allowed fruitful exchanges between artists.

“I am participating in this event to promote traditional Chinese technique and work with artists like Khalid El Bekay, whose works are very attractive. I hope to combine my printmaking methods with their special techniques to create unique works,” said Yuhan Wei.

For his part, Khalid El Bekay hopes to develop international cooperation and encourage Moroccan artists to enrich their already very open vision of the world. As for Abderrahmane Rahoule, he confided having discovered a new technique of wood sculpture and being ready to integrate it into his work. It was in a Marsam gallery packed with amazed visitors that the prints were pressed.
