The singer Cimafunk returns with a new album entitled For Your Body (“For your body”). Three years after the album The Food(which earned him a Grammy nomination) the Cuban star this time pulled out all the stops by inviting a host of stars.

From George Clinton to the Colombian group Monsieur Periné, via the American rapper Big Freedia or the trumpeter Trombone Shorty: many have responded to the invitation of the Cuban rock star. On this 3rd opus, the 35-year-old artist does not impose any musical boundaries. Funk, hip hop, South American and Caribbean music rub shoulders with sometimes a nod to New , the city in which he has lived for years and in which he says he feels at home “ There are many similarities between New Orleans and Cuba, he explains .Neighborhood life, community life… African roots… All this is very similar to what we find at home… and then of course, there is also the music.”

Cimafunk is the alias of Erik Alejandro Iglesias. If the Cuban rock star renamed himself like this, it is to pay homage to his ancestors: “ Cima comes from Cimarron, these slaves who escaped from plantations and went to live in communities in the mountains in Cuba. The name I chose is a way of paying homage to them, especially since funk is the African heritage of North American music”

Cimafunk fills venues around the world with its cocktail of funk, Latin rhythms, hip hop and afrobeat. His music earned him a Grammy nomination in 2023 for his previous album The Food. More recently, his performance marked the legendary Coachella festival in California. He was the first artist of Cuban origin to perform there.

Cimafunk is on tour in Europe in November with a stop on November 29 at the Élysée-Montmartre
