Once upon a time there was a young, motivated cultural assistant, Daniel Panteix, not to mention his name. In 1990 he had the idea of ​​creating an event that would be a celebration of reading and books. At that time, he was involved in an association for the promotion of reading. With the support of the Boé Evasion association, the Boé Reading Circle, teachers, Guy Saint-Martin, mayor of Boé, SEDRAP, Milan editions with the participation of Eveline Charmeux and Michel Gantady a first edition is born: “Boé Read for all the youth press”.

A brilliant meeting outside the department

Over the years, this event has established itself as an unmissable event for children’s books and albums which today extends throughout the department and welcomes for two days 4,000 visitors, numerous authors, illustrators, journalists, press cartoonists, etc. : Bernard Weber, Roger and Guy Louret, Lambert Wilson, Alain Paraillous, Vasquez Diaz, Pierre Richard, Patrick Baudry, Isabelle Autissier, Daniel Picouly, David Djaïz, Rachid Arhab, Pierre Bellemare, Roger Zabel, Iturria, Alfred, Olivier Barrot, for just name a few.

Every year for 35 years, from “The Fury of Reading”, through the “Time of Books” or “Lire en fête à Boé”, the Boé Reading Festival offers the public an event around children’s books and writing in constant evolution. Theater shows and readings of stories or poetry are now part of this event built around a theme. And for 13 editions, the literary prize of the city of Boé “The album for adults” has been awarded to the winning authors on the day of the inauguration of the show.

The Boé Reading Festival also takes place in schools. From October 7 to 11, more than 2,500 children from the city will welcome an author or illustrator into their class.

“Boé indulges in sport” is on Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the François-Mitterrand cultural space.

Today is Saturday October 5 from 11 a.m. at the Media Library.

As part of its activities, the media library organizes “So tell” reading sessions for children aged 4 to 6 accompanied by their parents every first Saturday of the month.
