Category revelations and emotions this year again during this 5th edition of the Carpentras fait son cinéma short film festival.

If last year The souvenir seller had been distinguished three times, Saturday evening, during the awards ceremony, it is the film Runaway at night minor (8 minutes 40 minutes, shot in 84 hours) from the young Strasbourg team around Anthony Marzin, who won two distinctions, the Grand Prix of the festival and that of the public. His short film begins with the scheme of two scammers but surprises the viewer halfway through.

Not even a hiccup in the editing will have deprived the team of its two prizes. “It appeared that this film stood out from the crowd and was unanimous among us. Plus, as a musician, it’s something that was close to my heart…” comments Charlélie Couture, member of the jury, alongside Tchéky Karyo.

Emotion at its height for the winning team but also for the Belgian actress Isabelle Anciaux (we saw her in Hippocrates with Louise Bourgoin and Avignon resident Alice Belaïdi) who won the Pierre-Cassignard performance prize in the film Maria by Olivier Panier.

I was very touched by the journey of this character, from drunkenness to the little goat (the one we don’t expect at the end of the film)”, congratulates the “Moliérisé” actor Dominique Pinon. “I loved these moments of perdition. Playing someone drunk without it being a caricature is not easy“, adds Jeanne Savary.

“Get a whole city involved”

Patrick Chêne will also bring on stage a resident who gave the answer to Isabelle Anciaux. “I take my hat off to Laurent who is not an actor and who plays the police commissioner. Through him, we honor the entire population of Carpentras and who do an enormous amount of work…

An appointment that residents have now put in their agenda. As the president of the festival suggested, the claps should still resonate in the streets of Carpentras in 2025.
