On September 24, 2020, fans of the show The Agency discovered Fabrice Luchini as a client of the luxury real estate agency, run by the Kretz family. In this show, Martin Kretz was responsible for finding offices for the actor in Paris. Fabrice Luchini, a perfectionist and connoisseur of the real estate market, had very specific requirements, making this search particularly delicate for Martin. What went unnoticed at the time was that Fabrice Luchini had already set his sights on the offices before even appearing on screen.

Behind the scenes of the show, Martin Kretz, the eldest of the family’s four sons, told how special the meeting with Fabrice Luchini was. In the first episodes of The Agencythe challenge for Martin was to find a property that perfectly matched the expectations of this client like no other. Martin did not hesitate to share his enthusiasm at the idea of working with such an emblematic figure as Fabrice Luchini: “I had met him several times in the 18th arrondissement, he had told me about his search for an office. I had an apartment for sale that could suit him. It was not so simple because you also had to buy the ground floor (…) I jumped at the chance to ask him if he would agree to be filmed and he kindly agreed. I think he had fun“, the real estate agent told us in 2020. For Martin, it was not just a sale, but a real challenge. Fabrice Luchini, known for his critical thinking, did not spare the agent during the visits. Finally, the actor had found his happiness in the 9th arrondissement of the capital.

Behind the cameras, the reality was somewhat different. As Fabrice Luchini revealed in his interview with our colleagues at TV Mag, the property had already been purchased well before filming. “Out of kindness, as they found me these offices, which I love, in my popular neighborhood, I agreed to come and act as if I didn’t know them for their show“, he explained. He had fun playing the demanding customer in front of the cameras: “I played the customer even though I had already purchased the offices! The job of an actor is great, it allowed me to thank them. I sometimes watch L’Agence but I don’t have deep sympathy for their clientele.”. The relationship between Fabrice Luchini and the Kretz family seems to have lasted beyond the show. In 2020 Martin assured Télé-Loisirs that he and the actor continue to call each other regularly to keep up to date with developments in the real estate market.
