Carla Bruni-Sarkozy will be heard by investigators of the Central for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Tax Offenses (OCLCIFF), this Thursday, May 2, near (Hauts-de-Seine), as indicated by AFP, from a judicial Source. The international singer and model was summoned as a defendant in the judicial investigation relating to the retraction of the intermediary Ziad Takieddine. The latter accuses her husband, the former President of the Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, of having financed his 2007 presidential campaign with Libyan funds.

This is not the first time that Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been heard in connection with this affair. In June 2023, the one who was offended by a film by her sister Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi some time ago, came as a witness in this same case. This time, Aurélien Enthoven’s mother is questioned in open hearing of accused person. For his part, Nicolas Sarkozy was indicted in this case at the beginning of October, in particular for concealment of witness tampering. Ziad Takieddine, a Franco-Lebanese businessman, initially accused the former President of having received money from Libya in order to finance his 2007 electoral campaign, before retracting during an interview in 2020.

According to information from AFP, the hearing of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is now finished. Still according to our colleagues, “no immediate decision has been taken by the investigating magistrates”specifies a judicial Source.

Carla-Bruni’s lawyers said ‘ Mrs. Carla-Bruni-Sarkozy went this morning as agreed to a free hearing which lasted almost 3 hours… During this hearing which took place in a calm climate, she was able to provide the set of useful insights and explanations.

In this case, the former President of the Republic must be tried from January 2025 for passive corruption, criminal association, illegal financing of an electoral campaign and concealment of embezzlement of Libyan public funds. Summoned alongside 12 other people, including two former Ministers of the Interior, Claude Guéant and Brice Hortefeux, the father of 4 children has always vigorously contested the facts and multiplied the appeals against his accusation. “Subject to the exercise of possible remedies”the hearing will be held “between January 6, 2025 and April 10, 2025” before the 32nd chamber of the criminal court, said the national financial prosecutor.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Nicolas Sarkozy and the other people cited are presumed innocent until the final judgment of the case.
