France: creations from Maxhosa Africa present at Paris Fashion Week

On the occasion of Fashion Week, the fashion house Maxhosa Africa held a fashion show on September 27, in a church in the French capital.

The collection entitled MAXHONAISSANCE RENAISSANCE is the second collection presented in Paris by the house Xhosa Africa. It aims to redefine the perception of African fashion and luxury.

To create unique pieces with contemporary styles, the brand’s stylist, Laduma Ngxokolo imagines clothes that can be worn by big stars.

« I think of public figures like Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Beyonce and, of course, important heads of state who want to go out to Asia on weekends, but above all I consider myself like a whole person. My best customer is myself, because I know my challenges and needs, and I also try to be more versatile in my clothing designs so people can see my personality before selling them my productions », explains the African designer.

With the new MAXHONAISSANCE RENAISSANCE collection, the stylist drew his inspiration from the artistic movement of the Renaissance. The makeup is particularly inspired by the vibrant and opulent colors of the jewelry worn by women of this era.

The different hairstyles reflect opulence and vivacity through crowns of jewels and flowers. Created in 2010, the house Xhosa Africa has always remained faithful to its commitment to creating unique collections with the traditional techniques of the Xhosa culture, a large ethnic group in South Africa.

Since its inception, the brand has produced pieces rooted in the beading traditions and color symbolism of the Xhosa community’s wardrobe.
