“We must all come together to protect each other,” is the moral of a short statement published Wednesday on the Nashville, Tennessee police X account. In the post, authorities praised the act of singer Jon Bon Jovi, who came to the aid of a woman in distress on a bridge Tuesday night.

The rock star was on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge with a camera crew when she noticed someone had climbed over the railing and was about to jump off.

Surveillance footage shows the Bon Jovi frontman and another unidentified person approaching the woman and starting a conversation with her. The singer eventually helps carry her to safety and hugs her for a few moments. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the hospital for treatment and evaluation. According to a source who spoke to CNN, Bon Jovi was filming a music video when the incident occurred.

The American network recalls that the 62-year-old singer has the experience and training necessary to help people going through crises, thanks to his JBJ Soul Foundation, which he created in 2006. “Hats off to him and his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Bridge Tuesday night,” local police stressed. According to Page Six, Jon Bon Jovi will not comment on this incident, out of respect for the person in distress.
