Thursday April 25, 2024, at the Manon de Lambézellec residence, in Brest, the young prodigy Iris Gloanec Lanchec gave a concert for the residents and in particular for Hélène Gallerand who was celebrating her 104th birthday. A varied program between classic (Saint-Saëns, Dvorak…) and varieties (Dassin, Aznavour…) which delighted the forty spectators. His brother Gauthier, 9 years old, also participated in this enchanting moment, performing a few pieces on the cello, an instrument he has been playing for three years.
Violin at 5, cello at 8
“I started playing the violin at 5 and a half years old, with Jean-Philippe Brun then Arthur Soulès, and the cello at 8 years old with Laura Buruiana at the Brest Conservatory. I also take classes in Paris with Claire Oppert. Since November 2022, this is the tenth time that I have come to play here,” rewinds the 13-year-old girl, who attends Sainte-Anne college in Brest.
Through music, I want to continue to bring them a little happiness.
“When I was at the Robert-Desnos nursery school (closed in 2018 and since destroyed, Editor’s note) located 150 m from this Ehpad (establishment for dependent elderly people), we sometimes came to see the residents and our visits made them happy . I have always kept these moments within me and through music, I want to continue to bring them a little happiness,” explains the little virtuoso who gives concerts in the city of Ponant and in the Paris region, often accompanied on the piano. .
A Diploma of Musical Studies in hand
In 2023, Iris Gloanec Lanchec obtained her Diploma of Musical Studies (DEM) in violin, individual recognition of a very high level of musical practice. In this year 2024, she takes the cello course.
After having obtained numerous first prizes during prestigious international competitions, such as the Glazounov competition (cello), twice the “The Golden Keys” competition (cello) which aims to reveal the talents of tomorrow, she received, in 2023, a first prize at the Flame competition (cello), in Paris.
I might turn my passion into my career, but I have several other ideas in mind…
The young Brestoise is still hesitant about her future, certainly musical. “I might make my passion out of my profession but I have several other ideas in mind…” she confides, before specifying that “(my) cello is on loan to me from the Talents association. & cellos, from Paris”. Without overshadowing “(my) patron, the Caisse d’épargne Bretagne-Pays de Loire. Without them, nothing would be possible ! », insists the one who, at 7 years old, played her first concert as a soloist, accompanied by the chamber orchestra of the University of Western Brittany in Brest. A young musician who has excelled from a very young age and who is predicted to have a brilliant future.
