Sold last July, “Kachalou”, Jane Birkin’s last favorite home, has found a buyer with another French celebrity whose identity has finally been revealed.

Jane Birkin lived there for over 30 years. It was only last July that her daughter, Lou Doillon, moved what was left of her there. Nicknamed “Kachalou” (for her daughters, Kate, Charlotte and Lou), the Breton house overlooking the sea was the favorite home of the Englishwoman who died over a year ago. Located in Lannilis, in Finistère, it was listed for 1,890,000 euros, according to “Le Figaro Immobilier”, and found a buyer last July.

According to information from “Le Télégramme”, it was the famous novelist Aurélie Valognes (author of “Mémé dans les orties”, “Le tourbillon de la vie”, “Born under a good star”) who fell under the spell of the 460 square meter building and its 6000 square meter garden.

A project in progress

Although the 41-year-old author chose this house for its peace and quiet, she does not intend to settle there for personal reasons. According to “Le Télégramme”, Aurélie Valognes plans to create “a space for exchanges between writers, who would come in residence [à ses côtés] “.

With its 14 rooms, including 9 bedrooms, and its heated swimming pool, “Kachalou” was the last family home of Jane Birkin and her daughters, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon. Two months ago, the latter went there to tidy up her mother’s things, not without emotion. “Saying goodbye. Goodbye to all the roofs, to all the places, is saying goodbye to all the us, to a lot of me,” she wrote on Instagram.
