On September 15, the Colombian singer interrupted her performance at a nightclub in Miami, while an audience member was filming under her dress.

This is a big blow for Shakira. While she was performing on September 15 at the LIV nightclub in Miami, a malicious spectator brandished his phone in order to film under her dress, as evidenced by a video posted on X by a spectator. The singer was performing her legendary dance steps, swinging her hips on stage, in order to celebrate the release of her new single, Soltera.

In the images, we first see the interpreter of Hips Don’t Lie having fun with her fans and putting a big smile on her face. All this under the eyes of her friends, present in the audience, among whom are the singers Anitta and Danna Poala, the dancer Lele Pons, and the model Winnie Harlow.

Warning

Suddenly, Shakira sees a man (off-screen in the video) filming under her dress. Warning him for the first time by protesting with a hand signal, she shows him that she understands what he is doing.

But the fan persists, causing embarrassment to the Latin singer. Holding her dress with both hands, she warns the audience and decides to leave the stage. At the end of the video, we can see her friend Annita asking her if everything is okay.

The Internet users’ debate

On X, the video has been viewed over 34 million times and has sparked debate and fury from users on the social network. “This is truly disappointing behavior. Artists deserve respect and privacy, both on and off stage. It is essential to ensure a safe environment for all,” “This is simply disgusting. Shakira had every right to leave, no one should have to endure this kind of disrespect. People need to learn to behave with basic decency!”, can be read in the comments.

Other X users, however, seem more skeptical about the viral scene: “He’s just recording her playing. He’d do the exact same thing if she was wearing a spacesuit,” or “What are you talking about? There were just a bunch of people filming her. Maybe she realized he was underneath her, but that doesn’t mean he was actually trying to film under her dress.” The musician has not commented yet. But perhaps she will join the ranks of those, like the young American musician Chappell Roan, who intend to denounce the abuses of fans and set clear limits for them.
