Vers a fratricidal trial. This Tuesday, September 10, two investigating judges ordered a trial against six people from Paul Pogba’s entourage, including his brother Mathias, for having sequestered the player and attempted to extort funds from him in March 2022.

According to information from France Info – obtained from a source close to the case and confirmed by the Paris prosecutor’s office – two investigating judges have ordered a trial for five people for organizing a “meeting” in the Paris suburbs on March 19, 2022, during which Paul Pogba was held captive. The sixth person, Mathias Pogba, the player’s brother, is suspected of having provided “active assistance” in persuading the French national team player to pay the kidnappers.

However, according to the order consulted by the public service media, the two judges consider that “it was not, as some of the accused were able to maintain, a simple “friendly” meeting to dot the i’s or to “set the record straight”. In the 44-page document, the two magistrates on the contrary refer to facts “relevant to criminal law”.

Until the trial, the date of which has not yet been set, the five people already placed under judicial supervision (including Mathias Pogba) will have to remain so.
