MISCELLANEOUS – A 46-year-old man, suspected of having committed at least one rape and several sexual assaults in the Bois de Vincennes, has been arrested

Suspected of rape and several sexual assaults in the Bois de Vincennes, a 46-year-old man was arrested on August 22 at his workplace in Vitry-sur-Seine, reports TF1 Info. Last May, a woman was raped but no trace of DNA was found, nor any evidence to identify a suspect.

Investigators then made the connection with several similar cases. France Info specifies that the forty-year-old is suspected of acts that began in September 2023. The investigation took a turning point on August 19, when a woman alerted soldiers from Operation Sentinelle who were patrolling the area after narrowly escaping an attempted rape.

Already convicted of rape

It was ultimately a car spotted on CCTV footage that allowed the police to identify a man. The latter had already been convicted of rape in 2015, the prosecutor’s office told France Info, and had been released from prison in June 2023. He reportedly admitted the facts in police custody.

He was charged and placed in pre-trial detention. The police are continuing their investigation, in particular to identify other possible victims of the man who has been nicknamed “the predator of(…) - 20minutes
