Taking chronic pain into account: progress to be made in Isère, “on a scale of 1 to 10 we are at 5”

On this World Pain Day, we take stock of the management of chronic pain. If it has progressed in recent years, there is still a lot to do, says Iséroise Audrey Aronica, vice president of the French-speaking association to overcome pain.

It depends on who you run into“… If chronic pain is better taken into account today, their treatment and care is still too uncertain. “Many techniques have evolved, particularly in pain centers, but unfortunately too few patients have access to them because they are not accepted in the centers, there are too few places“, estimates Audrey Aronica, vice-president of the French-speaking association to overcome pain. She is also an expert patient at CHU Alpes, which is organizing a pain awareness day this Thursday.

In Grenoble, on average, it takes a minimum of one year to obtain a place in a pain center.“, deplores Audrey Aronica. “Because there are fewer and fewer algologists, doctors specializing in pain. It is still not a recognized specialty, and too few doctors are turning to it“.
