In her program, Professor Carole Mathelin highlighted 4 areas of work, which are the place of women in the surgical professions, the development of innovation, the strengthening of international partnerships and finally awareness of our impact on the environment.
“It is with enthusiasm that I will continue the work of all those who preceded me, by supporting, promoting and disseminating the excellence of French surgery and its 13 specialties. With all Academicians, we will be able to continue to transform surgical pathways so that all talents can flourish and innovate, with women being increasingly represented and active.
My ambition, in the current period when the profession of surgeon is being disrupted by technological, institutional and societal developments, is for our Academy to anticipate and support these changes, taking into account the social, economic and demographic factors which influence our profession. For example, our elders will create new challenges that will require innovative solutions in surgery.
My ambition is also to contribute to reducing inequalities in access to care, so that the benefits of tomorrow’s surgery are equitably accessible.
-Finally, the issue of the environment will lead us to more efficient management of resources, reduction of waste and the integration of eco-responsible practices in our activities and in particular in our operating theaters.
For me, it is fundamental that our Academy builds a solid and united surgical community serving the health of all, ensuring that we maintain all the Humanity that characterizes our profession, Humanity that will always prevail over all technological and organizational issues. ”, indicated Professor Carole Mathelin.
